Privacy Policy: What Etchwright Collects
Etchwright is a reading site, and there is nothing here to sign up for. No account to create, no form to fill in, and no newsletter to join, which means the honest version of this policy is short. One third-party script runs, from Cloudflare, and it is cookieless. Everything else below is a plain statement of what does not happen.
The short version
Etchwright publishes buying guides and class level reviews of laser engravers and the gear around them. We do not run a member area, a comment form, or an email list, so there is very little to describe. What follows is the whole list, including the parts that are inconvenient to admit.
A policy that only lists the good half is marketing, so this page names the one script that does load and the reason it exists.
What this site sets
This site sets no cookies. The Worker that serves these pages never writes a Set-Cookie header, so there is no banner to dismiss, no consent record to keep, and no cookie to delete. That is not a policy choice layered on top of a tracker, it is the absence of one.
There are also no advertising pixels, no social widgets, and no fingerprinting. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity are allowed by the site security policy for a future date, but both ship switched off, so neither loads on any page you are reading now. A tracker that is not there cannot be disclosed, and this one is not there.
The one script that does load
One script runs, from Cloudflare at static.cloudflareinsights.com, and it reports anonymous performance figures: how long the page took to appear, and Core Web Vitals such as how much the layout shifts while it loads. It tells us whether the site is slow on a phone.
It is cookieless, it does not identify a reader, and it is not used for advertising or profiling. Cloudflare is the platform that serves these pages, so it already handles a request in order to deliver the HTML, and the count it produces is aggregate. We never see an individual reader, and the script was built not to produce one.
Amazon affiliate links
Etchwright earns from Amazon affiliate links. Some outbound links lead to Amazon, and when you click one, you leave Etchwright and Amazon takes over. From that point Amazon sets its own cookies and handles your data under its own privacy policy, not this one.
If you buy through one of those links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and that is how the site stays free to read. We receive no identifying information about individual visitors, and we never see what you buy. Affiliate income has never moved a score, and the methodology page says why.
If you email hello@etchwright.shop, we use your address to answer that message and nothing else. It is not added to a list, sold, shared, or used to send anything you did not ask for. That address is published on the corrections and contact section of the about page.
One reply is the whole transaction.
Your rights
We hold no personal data about readers, so there is nothing to request, correct, export, or delete. There is no profile to look up, because none is built. If you believe we are holding something about you anyway, email us and we will look and tell you what we find.
Who serves the pages
This site runs on Cloudflare Workers, and Cloudflare is the platform that delivers each request, so it necessarily sees a request in order to answer it. The only visitor figure Etchwright has access to is the aggregate performance count the cookieless script above produces. Aggregate is the ceiling. We cannot name a reader even if we wanted to.
Children
This site is written for adults buying and running laser engravers and the gear around them. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated date at the top of the page changes with it. A material change, like switching a tracker on or adding a form, is described here rather than made quietly.
Read the date before you trust the page, the same way you would on any of our reviews.
